Meet Kim in Customer Services
From time to time, we like to focus on a member of our Box-it Central team. This month, we tell you a little bit more about Kim Tiff, a name many of our clients will recognise through her role in Customer Services.
Kim, who joined us in October 2003, is actually one of our longest serving employees at Box-it Central. Back in 2003, she had decided it was time for a career change and took the rather radical step of moving from hairdressing to the world of document management.
“A friend of my mine told me about a vacancy at Box-it Central. I thought it was simply an office job which revolved around filing!” laughs Kim. “But, from the word go, I was made to feel very welcome and was soon taught the ‘ins and outs’ of archive storage and document management in general. Having come from a hairdressing career, the Customer Service side of my role came naturally and in all honesty, I’ve never looked back. That’s probably why I’m still here,” says Kim.
Kim’s Customer Service role at Box-it is both varied, and sometimes challenging. She helps clients with their requests for box/file collections and retrievals, as well as shredding collections and general enquiries. Kim raises work orders on a daily basis, including all those boxes and files that need to be picked from the warehouses. And of course, there are always those last-minute requests which she tries to help with as much as possible.
Talking about the biggest changes since she started, Kim recalls working in the original office which was a far cry from the stylish surroundings that Box-it Central enjoys today. “Omnidox Records Manager (ORM) has also been quite a significant change. We have many clients using the system which allows them to place their orders online for both boxes and files, as well as any other consumables they may need. It’s a really good physical archive management system,” says Kim.
When asked what she likes most about the job, Kim says, “That’s an easy one. I really enjoy speaking to our customers. I’ve been here so long that I have got to know many of them well, even though I’m office based and may never have met them face to face. I also work with a very friendly team of helpful people with makes the job very pleasant.”
As a mother of two adult daughters and a grandmother, life outside of work is also quite busy for Kim, who lives in Coventry with her husband, Steve and their beloved chocolate Labrador, Rylee. “We do a lot of walking with the dog which we really enjoy, especially if we can combine it with a nice pub lunch.”
