Records Management Tip
With GDPR getting ever closer (it is legislation that comes into force officially on 25 May 2018 and replaces the Data Protection Act of 1998) it is more important than ever that certain records are not kept any longer than is necessary.
You will no longer be able to keep every record ‘just in case’ therefore it is important to implement a document retention schedule. Different document types are legally required to be retained for different lengths of time, so it’s essential to document all the data you hold. The Information Commissioner’s Office has published some useful guidance and information on their website.
If you’re not already doing so, we recommend that you prepare for it now. Our document retention guide is a handy tool and can be requested from the Resources area of our website.
